KENYA | Handmade jewelry

Soko seeks to empower artisans in emerging economies who would otherwise lack access to the digital marketplace, thereby offering consumers jewellery that is stylish, innovative and ethically sound. Using Soko's mobile tools, talented makers can augment their incomes by up to four times by creating goods made with natural, sustainable and upcycled materials; improved individual prospects in turn help drive economic and social development in the wider community. Soko maintains a particular emphasis on women-led enterprises, which by 2014 constituted 74% of their partner network.

Soko's artisan partners are predominantly Kenyan, working with readily available materials such as brass, beads, horn and bone.
